We are a Catholic home for young men with disabilities
Sons of Thunder Home is a Catholic Companion Care Home for young men in Richardson, Texas. A Companion Care Home is a single family home with live-in logistical and companionship support for adults with disabilities. The goal of Sons of Thunder Home is to provide a safe and structured family-like community where our sons can grow in their Catholic faith, in friendship, and in independence.
Our residents are learning to live outside their childhood homes with a live-in paid house manager and continued support from their families. The home is designed to operate like a family would, with shared meals and responsibilities. The house manager works with the families to implement the daily routines of the household and is responsible for the daily needs of the residents.
Sons of Thunder Home was created by parents for their sons with confidence that all of us are made in the image and likeness of God, to love and serve Him in this world and the next. We know our sons thrive best in an environment that protects them physically, emotionally, and spiritually. We believe that in adulthood, our sons can and should continue to grow, in keeping with their circumstances.
Where are we?
We are located in Richardson, Texas, a first ring suburb of Dallas. Richardson is a city of approximately 120,000 residents and is home to the University of Texas at Dallas, a thriving tech industry, and a lively arts scene. Our home is in Collin County and served by the DART paratransit program. The home is an easy drive from Dallas and most of the northern suburbs, located in a beautiful walkable neighborhood with playgrounds, trails, and a pond.
