Saints James and John, Sons of Thunder, Pray for Us!

In the 3rd chapter of Mark, Jesus appoints James and John, the sons of Zebedee, as two of his 12 disciples, and nicknames them the “sons of thunder”. Why? We don’t know! But we interpret this to mean that Jesus loved them and knew he could use their unique gifts to help spread the gospel message of salvation. We know they lived in a community of brothers and friends that worked together and supported each other through joyful and difficult times. We take Saints James and John as our patrons and ask them to bring us all closer to Jesus through this apostolate.
